I have been in the wine/spirits industry in England for about 11 years now, finished my Viti/Vini degree recently and currently getting some experience on the steep slopes of the Mosel. Was born in Canada and would love to make wine there one day! Great to be on the site, will use it to educate those out this way who still think Canada only makes ice wine :)

FreeMyGrapes.ca is a campaign aimed at making it legal for all Canadians, and especially me :), to order BC wine and have it shipped across provincial borders.
As you have probably heard, BC's Dan Albas will table a bill this week in the House of Commons to make this legal. It is vital that we get the vote out. We'll need help in getting Canadians to write their MP - especially those that don't live in wine regions.
Allison Markin, whom I'm sure you know, is working on this. Anything you can do to help will make a difference.

Okanagan Purchasing Group said… Hi Kevin,
My name is Kim Hadley, I am the business Manager of OPG and like you, also hold an accounting designation (CGA). The Okanagan Purchasing Group is in its second fiscal year and currently working to increase our volume by inviting wineries who share our goals to become shareholders.
Our original concept was built around glass re-use which can only be profitable with critical mass. The process to build that volume has led us to many opportunites for cost savings and resource sharing. Constantly evolving, the OPG is a pretty exciting organization to manage. Here is an excerpt from our profile:
OPG is a corporation with the mission to save money, time and effort through group purchasing on behalf of BC estate wineries. Our goal is to build a profitable company which services the entire estate wine industry in providing integrated warehousing and logistics, purchasing power and value added services to the shareholders and clients.
Thanks for your inquiry, it is nice to know that you are interested in our progress.

Thanks Kevin. I am relatively new to BC wines. I lived in Washington State for 7 years and got to explore a lot of their best. I also spend a fair bit of time in California and have a trip planned to Napa this October.
That being said ..... it is time to start exploring some of BC's best and visit a few of our wineries. I want to set up a tasting here in Chilliwack soon.
